Course Duration: 1-3 days (experience, competency and class size dependent)

RPL and training: Or approx. 6-8 hours, if a logbook with at least 20 hours detailing experience lifting or conducting various tasks using buckets, ripper, hammer and auger or similar can be provided and verified

Location: Onsite, statewide (Excavator and suitable training area to be provided by the client)

Pre-requisites: Must be 16 years of age and possess good language, literacy and numeracy skills

What to bring: USI Number (https://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-your-usi). Biscuits, tea, coffee and drinks are provided. There are many takeaway food options nearby or feel free to bring your own lunch

PPE requirements: Hard hat, safety boots, long pants and Hi Vis short/long sleeve shirt

  • Plan and prepare for excavator operations

  • Operate excavator in line with established requirements

  • Lift, carry and place materials to complete work activity

  • Select, remove, fit and use attachments for an excavator

  • Prepare to relocate the excavator

  • Conduct housekeeping activities

 

Application of the Unit

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to operate excavator operations to lift carry and place materials.

This unit applies to those working in site based roles.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors, and must be sourced from state jurisdictions prior to applying this unit.

This unit alone does not provide sufficient skill to independently load and unload equipment. To perform this activity safely, personnel must either complete or be assisted by someone who has completed RIIHAN308F Load and Unload Plant or equivalent.
