<p>This course is designed for anyone requiring a forklift ticket to operate a forklift truck in a workplace. It covers all aspects of safe forklift operation, with a balance of theory and hands‑on practical training.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Nationally Recognised unit of competency</h3>



<p>TLILIC0003 Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck (LF Class)</p>

<li>Work Health and Safety Act 2012 (Tas) obligations</li>



<li>Risk assessment and hazard control (Hierarchy of Control)</li>



<li>Forklift capacity, stability, and load calculations</li>



<li>Pre‑start inspections and fault identification</li>



<li>Planning and preparing for forklift operations</li>



<li>Operating a forklift in different environments and navigating hazards</li>



<li>Lifting, shifting and relocating various loads</li>



<li>Forklift shutdown and post‑operational procedures</li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Licencing Requirements in Tasmania</h3>



<p>To operate a forklift in Tasmania, you must hold a High Risk Work Licence (HRWL – LF class). Successful completion of this forklift course allows you to apply for this licence through WorkSafe Tasmania.</p>



<p><strong>Prerequisites</strong></p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>18 years of age or older</li>



<li>Basic language, literacy and numeracy skills</li>



<li>Valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) – <a href="https://www.usi.gov.au/students/find-your-usi">create or find your USI</a></li>



<li>Proof of identity and Tasmanian residential address (e.g. driver’s licence, utility bill, car registration)</li>
</ul>

<li>Hobart: $460 per person (GST exempt)</li>



<li>Launceston / Devonport: $560 per person (GST exempt)</li>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Assessment Process</h3>



<p>The forklift licence assessment is conducted by a WorkSafe Tasmania Accredited Assessor and consists of:</p>

<li>Written theory exam</li>



<li>Practical demonstration of competence</li>
</ul>



<p>You’ll be assessed on your ability to plan, prepare, and safely operate a forklift in line with industry and legislative standards.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Location and Facilities</h3>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Delivery: Available in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport, or onsite statewide at your workplace.</li>



<li>Training includes use of a 2.5‑tonne Toyota forklift (provided by HRWS).</li>



<li>Facilities include tea, coffee, biscuits and access to local food outlets. Participants are welcome to bring lunch.</li>
</ul>



<p><strong>PPE required:</strong>&nbsp;Safety boots or enclosed shoes, long pants, and a hi‑vis short or long‑sleeve shirt.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Registered Training Organisation (RTO)</h3>



<p>High Risk Work Solutions delivers this course as Talented Training RTO #45144, ensuring compliance with the Standards for RTOs. A Statement of Attainment is issued by Talented Training Pty Ltd when an individual successfully completes one or more accredited units within this course.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Application</h3>



<p>This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to operate a forklift truck safely in accordance with all relevant legislative requirements.</p>



<p>Forklift truck means a powered industrial truck equipped with lifting media made up of a mast and an elevating load carriage to which is attached a pair of fork arms or other attachments that can be raised 900 mm or more above the ground, but does not include a pedestrian-operated truck or a pallet truck.</p>



<p>A person performing this work is required to hold a forklift truck High Risk Work Licence (HRWL).</p>



<p>This unit requires a person operating a forklift truck to:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>plan for the work/task</li>



<li>prepare for the work/task</li>



<li>perform work/task</li>



<li>pack up</li>
