Licencing Requirements in Tasmania

Prerequisites

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Language, literacy and numeracy skills required
  • Valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) – create or find your USI
  • Proof of identity and Tasmanian residential address (e.g. driver’s licence, utility bill, car registration)
  • Completion of CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry required for construction work

Licence Cost

  • Hobart: $1,300 per person (GST exempt)
  • Launceston/Devonport: $1,500 per person (GST exempt)

To gain your official scaffold ticket (High Risk Work Licence) in Tasmania:

  • Complete this accredited training and assessment
  • Pass the formal WorkSafe Tasmania assessment
  • Lodge your application with Service Tasmania (application and ID required)
  • You’ll be granted your scaffold licence, authorising you for basic scaffolding tasks

PPE required: Safety boots or enclosed shoes, long pants, and a hi‑vis short or long‑sleeve shirt.

A Statement of Attainment is issued by All High Risk Training Pty Ltd when an individual successfully completes one or more accredited units within this course.

Application

This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely perform basic scaffolding work.

Scaffolding work involves erecting, altering or dismantling a temporary structure to support a platform from which a person or object could fall more than four metres.

This unit applies to scaffolding work involving:

  • modular or pre-fabricated scaffolds
  • cantilevered materials hoists with a maximum working load of 500 kg
  • ropes
  • gin wheels
  • safety nets and static lines
  • bracket scaffolds (tank and formwork).

Scaffolding work is undertaken in construction and other industries where temporary structures are erected, altered and dismantled.

Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying carry out construction work. Achievement of CPCCWHS1001, Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.
