$650.00 pp in Hobart (50% funded by Keystone if eligible)

Boom type EWP, Scissor and Vertical Lift supplied by HRWS

 

Course Duration: 2 days (experience, competency and class size dependent)

Day 1: 0730-0800 introduction/enrolment, 0800-1100 theory revision, 1100-1530 practical training

Day 2: 0700-0800 theory revision, 0800-1100 Worksafe theory exam, 1100-1430 Worksafe practical exam

 

Location: Onsite or offsite, statewide

Pre-requisites: Must be 18 years of age and possess good language, literacy and numeracy skills

What to bring: USI Number (https://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-your-usi). Biscuits, tea, coffee and drinks are provided. There are many takeaway food options nearby or feel free to bring your own lunch

CPD points acquired: 12 (please contact CBOS to find out if you are eligible)

PPE requirements: Hard hat, safety boots, long pants and Hi Vis short/long sleeve shirt.

 

Course Description: 

  • Introduction to the WHS Act 2012, COP and A/S

  • Risk assessment/Hierarchy of control

  • Detailed theory component

  • EWP pre-start inspection and fault identification

  • Plan and prepare for work

  • Intensive practical component

  • Safely navigate site hazards

  • Conduct various simulated EWP tasks

  • EWP shut down and post-operational inspection

Application of the Unit

This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely operate a boom-type Elevating Work Platform (EWP) where the length of the boom is 11 metres or more in accordance with all relevant legislative requirements. 

Boom-type elevating work platform means a telescoping device, hinged device, or articulated device, or any combination of these, used to support a platform on which personnel, equipment and materials may be elevated.

A person performing this work is required to hold a boom-type elevating work platform HRWL.
